Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 July 2026
Pre-launch draft · v1 · under review by Zimbabwean counsel

Famba ("we", "us") is a peer-to-peer car-rental marketplace being built for Zimbabwe. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and how we protect it. We've written it in plain language on purpose.

1. What we collect

2. What we do NOT collect (yet)

During this pre-launch phase we do not collect payments, ID documents, driver's licences, or location tracking data. Your location is never stored on our servers and never tracked in the background: it is read only at the moment you tap "use my current location", and it stays on your device apart from the single lookup described above. When the marketplace launches, verification documents and trip data will be collected under an updated version of this policy, which we'll publish before it applies.

3. How we use your information

4. Where your data lives

Waitlist data is stored securely with Supabase (database hosted in the EU, London region) with access controls that prevent public reads. The website is served by Cloudflare. Both providers process data under their own security and privacy commitments. Pick-up address lookups are handled by Photon (komoot), which receives the search text and nothing that identifies you or your account.

5. Sharing

We don't share your personal data with anyone today. At launch, limited data will be shared only as needed to run the service (e.g. identity-verification, insurance and vehicle-recovery partners), and this policy will be updated first.

6. Your choices

7. Contact

Questions or requests: hello@famba.co.zw (interim: via the WhatsApp number on our site).

8. Changes

We'll update this page as Famba moves from waitlist to live marketplace, and material changes will be flagged clearly. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.

⚠ This is a good-faith v1 drafted before launch and is being finalised with a Zimbabwean lawyer (including alignment with the Cyber and Data Protection Act). It governs the waitlist and demo only; a fuller policy ships before any real bookings do.
